KEROA Crime Update – February 2023

Crime Overview

During the month of February numerous operations where done in the Kyalami AH Ext 1 area by Midrand SAPS, Midrand Sector 4 CPF members and private security companies. This was done through high visibility patrols, VCP’s (vehicle check points) and other operations.

The problematic areas identified in January were specifically targeted and as a result of these operations, we have seen a reduction in crimes reported in the area during February.

The group of 4 suspects that were active in the area in January seems to have moved onto other surrounding areas, but all security members are still on high alert and ready in the event that they return to the area.

A trend that is taking place more frequently is that criminals will target properties during load shedding. This is due to electric fences or alarm systems being down during this time. Therefore, please ensure that you test your safety systems regularly and replace old batteries so that these systems can keep on function during power outages.

Final Words

Remember to always report all incidents to Midrand SAPS and the Sector 4 CPF team via their WhatsApp group. If crimes are not reported, then it is not possible to implement measures to combat those crimes.

Please ensure that the grass outside your property on the verge of the road is always kept short. There are many properties in the area where the grass is not cut and it makes it easy for criminals to hide.
